What Is Your Business. Protected.?
Your Business. Protected. is a hands-on planning service that helps you prepare your business for an unexpected absence, serious illness, long-term incapacity, or death.
It is not a course where you simply watch lessons.
It is not a blank template that leaves you responsible for figuring out what to write.
It is a structured working relationship where we examine your business one area at a time, identify missing information, make important decisions, and turn those decisions into practical guidance that another person can understand and follow.
You remain the decision-maker.
My role is to educate you, ask the questions that need to be answered, help you work through your options, and keep the planning moving forward until your customized Business Continuity Roadmap™ is complete.
What is a Business Continuity Roadmap™?
A Business Continuity Roadmap™ is a centralized, practical guide that explains how your business should be managed if you suddenly cannot run it.
It brings together:
key business information
important contacts
instructions for urgent responsibilities
access and account information
your wishes for clients, employees, contractors, and vendors
plans for a short-term absence or long-term incapacity
your preferred direction for the business if you pass away
Your roadmap is customized to your business. It reflects how your business actually operates, who supports it, what depends on you, and what you want to happen.
It does not replace your will, Power of Attorney, shareholder agreement, insurance policies, or professional legal and financial advice. Instead, it gives your authorized decision-makers and professional advisors the operational information they may need to carry out their responsibilities.
Why Business Owners Choose Your Business. Protected.
Business owners choose Your Business. Protected. because they know this planning matters, but it rarely feels urgent enough to compete with client work, deadlines, payroll, family responsibilities, and the daily demands of running a business.
Months pass.
Sometimes years pass.
The planning remains unfinished.
This service creates the structure and monthly momentum required to complete it.
It is designed for business owners who want more than general information or a template. They want someone to guide them through the complete process from beginning to end.
They want:
a clear structure that keeps the work moving
dedicated time to focus on one area of the business each month
practical education before making important decisions
a trusted advisor to answer questions as they arise
supportive accountability that reflects the realities of entrepreneurship
guidance tailored to their business and family
confidence that they are making informed decisions
Together, we build your roadmap one section at a time, creating meaningful progress every month until it is complete.
What We Will Work Through Together
Your Business Continuity Roadmap™ is built using the Eight Business Preparedness Pillars™.
Each pillar addresses an area of your business that another person may need to understand, access, manage, or make decisions about if you are unavailable.
1. Business Foundation
We review how your business is registered, owned, and structured; where your core records are stored; and whether important information is current.
This section also includes Your Business Snapshot™, a plain-language summary of your business, key contacts, immediate priorities, and where essential information can be found.
2. Operations
We document how the business functions day to day, which activities depend on you, what responsibilities cannot be ignored, and what someone would need to know to keep the business stable.
3. Clients & Relationships
We review your client or customer relationships, communication processes, confidentiality obligations, contracts, and the people or organizations that should be contacted if you become unavailable.
4. Financial Readiness
We organize important information related to CRA, banking, lending, payroll, merchant services, income, debts, financial responsibilities, and the professionals who manage these areas.
5. Technology & Access
We create an organized record of the software, email accounts, websites, social media, cloud storage, subscriptions, administrator access, security processes, and digital systems the business relies on.
This does not mean placing sensitive passwords openly in the roadmap. We identify how authorized people can securely locate or obtain access when appropriate.
6. Insurance & Benefits
We review business and personal coverage connected to your ability to work, including disability, critical illness, life insurance, health benefits, beneficiaries, trustees, policy contacts, and how claims or benefits may be accessed.
7. Legal & Professional Planning
We identify the lawyers, accountants, bookkeepers, financial advisors, insurance professionals, and other trusted advisors connected to your business.
We also prepare you for conversations about wills, Powers of Attorney, authorized representatives, corporate documents, shareholder agreements, and other legal or professional matters. We provide education and planning support, not legal, tax, insurance, or financial advice.
8. Business Continuity & Transition
We document what you want to happen if you are temporarily absent, unable to return for an extended period, or pass away.
Depending on your wishes, this can include instructions to:
temporarily maintain or pause the business
transition the business to an existing partner, shareholder, family member, or employee
prepare the business for sale
close the business in an organized way
The Results of Completing This Work
The purpose of this service is not simply to produce a long document.
It is to make your business easier to understand and your wishes easier to follow.
As the work progresses, you will:
move important knowledge out of your head
identify gaps before they become urgent problems
make decisions while you still have the time and capacity to think them through
better understand how dependent the business is on you
prepare more useful questions for your lawyer, accountant, insurer, and financial advisor
clarify who should be involved if you become unavailable
reduce uncertainty for your spouse, family, business partner, and team
gain relief from knowing the work is no longer being postponed
What You Will Complete
By the end of the engagement, you will have:
Your Business Snapshot™, providing an immediate overview of your business and first steps
A customized Business Continuity Roadmap™
An emergency contact and notification order
Practical instructions for a short-term absence
Guidance for long-term incapacity
Documented wishes for what should happen if you pass away
A communication approach for clients, employees, contractors, vendors, and other key relationships
An overview of business operations, responsibilities, systems, and access processes
Clear direction about who should step in and what they may be responsible for
Organized information for the appropriate transition path: continue, pause, transfer, sell, or close
A centralized structure for your key business information
A Family and Key Contact review session
An annual checklist and reminder to keep the roadmap current
The completed roadmap is designed to give your family, authorized decision-makers, business contacts, and professional advisors a clearer place to begin.
Every service at Your Business Executor is designed to leave you with practical tools, personalized resources, and a clear roadmap—not just another meeting or a blank template downloaded with the best of intentions, only to sit untouched.
Preparing the People Around You
A roadmap is far more useful when the people named in it understand that it exists.
Once the roadmap is complete, we hold a 90-minute Family and Key Contact Session.
This may include your:
spouse or partner
adult child
estate trustee
Power of Attorney
business partner or shareholder
office manager
key employee
or another trusted contact
During the session, we explain the purpose and structure of the roadmap, review important roles, identify where information is stored, answer questions, and address any remaining gaps.
The goal is not to give someone authority they do not legally have. The goal is to ensure the appropriate people understand your wishes, know who to contact, and are not learning about the plan for the first time during an emergency.
How We’ll Work Together
We meet once a month for 12 months.
Each session lasts approximately 60–minutes and focuses on one defined area of your business.
During each meeting, we will:
review the previous month’s progress
discuss the next section of your roadmap
explain unfamiliar terms or responsibilities in plain language
work through the decisions that apply to your situation
identify questions for your professional advisors
agree on practical next steps
Between meetings, you should plan for approximately one to two hours of focused work. That may include gathering information, reviewing accounts, speaking with a professional advisor, having a conversation with your spouse or business partner, or completing part of your roadmap.
We end each session by asking:
What is realistic for you to accomplish before we meet again?
This keeps the work moving without creating unrealistic expectations.
Note: Clients who prefer an accelerated schedule may meet every two weeks and complete the engagement in approximately six months.
The goal is not to finish quickly. The goal is to finish well.
