What Happens When I’m Gone - Business Preparedness Series!
Register today for the upcoming 4-week Business Preparedness Series where entrepreneurs connect to learn how to plan and organize their business details for their spouse or next-of-kin in the case of an unfortunate event. The purpose is to emphasize the importance of preparedness and give entrepreneurs a space to plan and organize.
Plus, you will be provided with a customized, guided planner to bring all your business information, contact details, operations, accounts, etc. together in one, centralized place.
Each week, you will work through different modules to gain an understanding about how to organize your business details and documents, as well as how to communicate their use to your next-of-kin. Educational guidance will be provided along the way to ensure your assets and documents are protected now and for the future.
Section topics and details that we will be focusing on include:
1 | Business registration document (Master Business License or Corporation documents)
2 | CRA account details
3 | HST/GST number, if applicable
4 | Contact details or business cards for any business professionals you work with (ex. accountant, lawyer, financial planner, etc.).
5 | Business banking information
6 | Benefits and insurance details
Note: These personal details will not be shared during the sessions. The intention is to keep them private but organized.

I know thinking about a future where you aren’t here to care for and protect your family is awkward and uncomfortable.
But that’s why I’m doing this and that’s why you need to do this too!
Because death, illness, accidents, disease, injuries, and age happen – whether we are planned for them or not.
Wills for Entrepreneurs (Virtual Session)
Tuesday, October 21st at 7pm - 8pm ET
WHY is a will important for business owners, especially sole proprietors?
Because death, illness, accidents, disease, injuries, and age happen – whether we are prepared for them or not.
Having a current/updated and legal will ensures your wishes are respected, reduces stress for loved ones, and helps prevent disputes over property.
🖋 Having a will avoids intestacy:
Without a will, the law determines how your property is distributed, which may not align with your wishes.
In Ontario, intestacy (dying without a will) requires a probate process for the estate to be finalized. The process involves court intervention, appointment of an estate trustee, and asset distribution according to law.
🖋 Having a will protects your family:
A will ensures your loved ones receive what you intend them to have and can protect assets from falling into the hands of estranged relatives.
🖋 Having a will reduces family stress:
A well-drafted will simplifies the process for your family to navigate after your passing, minimizing confusion and potential conflict.
❌ DO NOT assume that people know what you want.
❌ DO NOT assume that your children will be taken care of.
❌ DO NOT assume that your assets will be easily accessed by your spouse or next-of-kin.
❌ DO NOT assume!
This session will walk you through the different sections of a will, as well as how to choose and assign beneficiaries, clarify what an estate trustee can do, and discuss the importance of assigning Power of Attorney and Executor roles.
Additionally, we will discuss how to protect your business assets and ensure your family or beneficiaries have access to these accounts and assets if you become incapacitated.
This session is focused on wills for entrepreneurs but everyone is welcome.
Registration is required.
Note: For virtual sessions, a Zoom link will be provided to all registrants within 24 hours of the session start time.
